Friday’s opening game saw the continuation of a few IUFT trends – Great Britain taking an early lead and Australia battling back from behind. Alex Demianczuk and John Hickling opening the scoring for the Brits and it looked like they were on their way to overtaking Australia in the standings and earning a berth in the 3rd place match. Roman Conrad was an emergency replacement in the GB goal, and he was called to action early and often. The gloveless wonder made some amazing saves, but ultimately could not thwart the Australian onslaught as they scored three goals to win the game. Despite falling out of IUFT 2013 without a point, the veteran Great Britain squad can hold their heads high for testing every single one of their opponents on the pitch and for being the clear fan favorites off the pitch.
